Breathe. It’s ok. You’re going to have bad days. But did you catch that? You’re going to have bad days. Life isn’t perfect and it was never intended to be perfect; however, it is up to us to make the best of it everyday when we wake up. If you’re having a bad day, this one is for you. A bad day does not equate the rest of you life.
1. It’s okay to cry.
Whoever told you it isn’t is a fool. You’re human. Allow yourself to be just that – human. My mother always told me that crying is therapeutic. At a very young age I understood the power of a good ol’ “waterworks fest.” I felt relieved because I released. Do not limit yourself because of a societal standard (or whatever standard you may hold against yourself). Cry it out, wipe your face, and keep poochin’ on boo.
2. Count it as a lesson learned.
I believe everything is intentional. Everything. If something happened it happened for a reason. We may not understand it at the time, but one day we will see. I consider bad days a live birth of wisdom. We learn our greatest lessons through hard times.
3. Call it corny or impossible, but you can choose your thoughts.
I was having a conversation with a girl on twitter about choosing happiness and she shared a great technique that I couldn’t help but use. When she finds herself in a negative mindset she stops her thoughts by telling herself all of the amazing qualities she hosts, what she’s going to accomplish next, and feeds her mind with positive words through affirmations. Look, I’m aware we can’t always choose the bright side. Sometimes we just want to wallow in dark, but eventually we must get up and step into the light. There is hope in the light. Does that make sense?
4. Trust me, there is something to be thankful for.
Don’t forget to show yourself some gratitude. And don’t get too wrapped up in the troubles of the day. Often, we hear people tell us that someone else would want our struggles – and they’re right. Before you go to bed tonight, sit down and list at least 3 things you’re grateful for. Gratitude gives good energy.
You deserve to be happy and nothing less. This is just one day bad day. Life is all about learning and applying what you learned. What did you learn? Fix yourself some tea, talk to someone, pray, and be nice to yourself.
Sending good vibes and love.
