6 Ways I Tackle Stress and Anxiety

Right now I am in a season of discomfort and pressure; however, I know this season is  all about my growth. Maintaining my faith has been challenging, but all in all there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I guess you can say I am somewhat in the meantime phase, meaning that I am withstanding test and trials of life while working towards healing. In the midst of this hectic journey I do what I can to manage stress. Certainly, life is not easy and I do not believe it was intended to be. However, I do believe it is essential to take care and be kind to ourselves. Sometimes my anxiety takes over and crushes my spirit and drive, but I am on a mission to tackle it with plenty of education, tips, and self-love (as cheesy as that sounds 🙂 ).

I want to share with you how I tackle stress and anxiety. These are a few things I like to do to clear my mind and refresh my spirit. Let’s be clear. I am not expert. I do not have all of the answers. If anything, I am your everyday black girl who wants to share her wisdom and love. Hopefully this helps someone. *cues Schoolin’ Life by Beyonce*

1. D.I.Y Projects

Because who doesn’t want to save money by making something yourself? Especially if the project is easy ! Adrianna posted an amazing quick and easy D.I.Y project on her blog and I can’t wait to try it out! #ThatLifeAdri

2. Yogaaaaaaaa

This year I decided to incorporate yoga in my weekly routine and it has been so good to me. Yoga helps release the tension in my body and gives me a clear headspace. I feel relaxed and at peace after each session. I took a yoga class in college twice a week, which really helped with releasing stress of classes, work, and organizations. Typically, I practice 3 times a week. Pinterest helped me expand my variety of positions.

3. Nighttime Tea

Every night I make sure I unwind with a hot cup of tea. There are many health benefits of drinking tea, but I personally enjoy the calm feeling I receive. I do not discriminate when it comes to flavors; however, I love the bedtime, chamomile, and calming tea by Yogi Tea.

4. Meditation and Gratitude

Practicing mediation and gratitude is A MUST for me. I take 10 minutes a day, morning and/or night, to reflect, pray, and count my blessings. When I find myself becoming overwhelmed and anxious I practice meditation and gratitude to revitalize. If you are looking to practice gratitude, click here.

5. Self-Care Day

There are times where we just need to stop and take a break. Self-Care Days are necessary for my sanity and well-being for several reasons. I take the entire day to relax and pamper myself. Ultimately, I appreciate unplugging from everything around me and refocusing on my needs. I have full agenda and plenty of ideas for your self-care day here.

6. Talk it Out

Sometimes we need to let it out and vent! I know I do from time to time. Thankfully, I have an amazing cluster of people I can always talk to whenever I am feeling down. Once I have gotten everything off my chest I feel relieved and I am able to let it go. Major key: make sure you have trustworthy people in your corner who love you and willing to listen. I have learned the hard way that you can’t just vent to anyone regardless of the relationship.

Hopefully this helps.

With love,

Chasity

  1. Great tips! I’ve been trying to get back into yoga, but I’ve been so lazy these days to tell the truth. My boyfriend practices yoga, as well as mindful meditation every morning. It really helps him stay balanced throughout his day. Maybe I’ll get back into it. 😅

    1. Thank you! It took me forever to get back in the groove of yoga. Even on days where I don’t feel like practicing I try to get in at least 5-10 minutes (even if I’m sitting in the bed lol). Meditation is key! Let me know how yoga works out! Xo

  2. I have never thought about the tea before bed! That’s super smart and probably helps you sleep …..being that I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in weeks trying this may work out in my favor! Can’t wait !

  3. I am definitely going to implement some of your tips here on stress! I had to learn the hard way as well. You can’t vent to just “anybody.” Some people just don’t understand that is best to listen and not add your two cents. Even more so lol, they don’t know how to keep it confidential. It’s funny when I vent some people they get a bit upset even though it’s not about them (just my struggles as a man who’s trying to understand or express myself!)
